Wiper Blades

GGG Traditional Wiper Blades
The most common design, traditional wipers have a replaceable rubber blade that fits into a spring-tensioned frame assembly, or bridge. Most blades have a metal spline that supports the rubber element and runs through the ribs of the contact points. GGG Wiper Blades are available in the following sizes:

GGG Beam Blades
Unlike Traditional wipers, beam blades have no external frames. Instead, they have spring steel incorporated into the rubber. As a result, beam blades are promoted as providing more uniform pressure on today's curved windshields and therefore better wiping performance. Also known as bracketless, beam blades are becoming increasing popular.

Wiper Blade Information
- Wipers should be replaced every 6 to 9 months and whenever a corresponding glass part is replaced.
- Weather and seasonal influences will influence the frequency with which they should be replaced.
- A crack or chip in glass can cause damage to the wiper blades, which if not replaced at the same time the glass, can then cause damage to the new piece of glass.
- An unclean or obscured windshield is a real safety hazard.
- Wipers not clearing the glass properly can impact visibility and create unsafe driving conditions.
- Wipers not functioning properly can interfere with safety or driver assist systems such as the ADAS systems or other features such as rain, light or humidity sensors as a couple examples.
- Lift each wiper arm off the glass and run a finger along its rubber edge. If the rubber is rigid or chipped, or produces nonstop streaking, new wipers are needed.
- Rubber components in wiper blades deteriorate from exposure to the elements as well as road debris, chemicals, climate and ozone exposure.
- Rubber is sensitive to sun (UV exposure), ice, soap, and extended periods of non-use.
- Most blades quickly degrade after a few months of regular use. Depending on the model, deterioration can show up as streaking (leaving lines of water behind), smearing of the water (instead of clearing it), or missed areas of wiping.
- Damaged, cracked or degraded wipers can damage or scratch glass.
- Common signs that wipers need to be replaced include dry, cracked or split rubber or damage to the wiper arm assembly which can cause streaking or scratching.
- It is recommended that wiper blades be replaced in pairs to help to ensure the clearest windshield and safest view when driving.
- All wiper blades are not created equal, that's why it's recommend that both wiper blades be the same type and from the same manufacturer.
